Description

In the production and manufacture of metals, the rapid availability of information about the chemical composition of the materials for process control, quality control and the development of new materials and technologies is of vital importance. In this context, measurement systems that are based on laser emission spectrometry including LIBS – Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy present an interesting alternative to conventional methods of analysis. The primary advantages are that, as a rule, the sample preparation can be dispensed with, as well as the short measuring times and the on-line capability. ScanLis has been developed for the analysis of low-alloyed steels and coated steel sheets. Various optical modules for beam guidance, as well as a sample stand can be assembled, so that the analysis on static or moving samples and detection in the ultraviolet spectral range of < 200 nm are possible. As an option, a scanning module with a scanning range of approximately 400 mm x 400 mm is additionally available. With this module, the laser beam can be focused on a flat surface from a distance of approximately 500 mm. The sample stand and the optical modules are mounted on to a uniform mounting plate and can be easily interchanged.
